Amizmiz Treks Itinerary:

Option1 :

Day 1 – Marrakech – Barrage Amezmiz – Aït Zitoun

We depart Marrakech this morning to transfer to Barrage Amezmiz near the high Atlas chain. We visit the souk of Lala Takerkoust and meet local mule drivers. We start walking in the small hills for a tour, crossing farms set beside tiny fields of corn, maize and olives trees before arriving at our Berber house. (L,D)

Day 2 – Aït Zitoun – Tizgui – Aït AhmedWe start walking in the foothills of the high Atlas, passing near the forest area of Tizgui village hanging at an impressive height of 1600m of altitude. The panoramic view on the Haouz plain is amazing. In the afternoon we travel along the mule tracks through a small pine forest to reach Aït Ahmed village. (B,L,D)


Day 3 – Aït Ahmed – Imin ‘Tala

Our journey takes us to Imin’Tala, overhanging Amezmiz river with villages made of earth and stone.Here we see the craftsmanship that resulted in terraces and irrigation channels being built into the earth, and nature and practical needs co-exist in harmony. (B,L,D)

Day 4 – Imin ‘Tala – Azgour – Marrakech

Crossing a pass of 1800m, we come to Jbel Allaghine via a small path in a peaceful pine forest, with spectacular views on the snowy High Atlas summits. Down on the Tnirt village, after a small climb up, we reach the Lamdinate valley. From here we meet our local transport in Azgour village and head back to Marrakech, For our last night we stay in a traditional Riad, a Moroccan house with an interior garden. (B,L)

Day 5 – Marrakech

Our trip ends today after breakfast by a transfer to the airport (B)

Option 2 :

Day 1: flight to Marrakech
Airport welcome (the guide will hold a « Espaces Naturel Maroc » sign) and transfer to hotel/Riad

Day 2:Marrakech-Ameghrasse (altitude 1050m) – Ait Tirghit (1550m)

Transfer to Ameghrasse village by Amizmiz road, meeting up our muleteers for the week and beginning of the hike. We will follow the Oued towards Tizgui village through some beautiful forests of green oaks and juniper trees. Arriving to Aït Tirghit village by a small trail offering a magnificent view on Tensift el Hause plains

Hiking: 3 hours

Height difference: 500m up

Accommodation: Berberian family home

Day 3: Aït Tirghit – Tizi-n-Tagourant (2169m) – Tizi Mlil (1200m)

In the morning, hiking towards the Tizi n’Tagourant pass, between the Tighardine and Azrou Wizem moutains, wonderful sightseeing over the Toubkal summits and the Erdouz Mountain. Arriving to the little village of Aguerda through the Aït Hsain meadows. We will then follow the N’Aït Hsain river.

Hiking: 5 hours

Height difference: 600m up / 950m down

Accommodation: Berberian family home

Day 4: Tizi Mlil – Tizi n’Oussoul (1600m)

Easy climbing to Semghort, nice sightseeing all around. Arriving in Amizmiz valley passing through orchads of walnut trees, apple trees and other fruit trees. Spending the night in Tizi n’Oussoul village.

Hiking: 5 to 6 hours

Height difference: 800m up / 400m down

Accommodation: Berberian family home

Day 5: Tizi n’Oussoul – Tizi n’Fourna (2000m) – Imi n’Tala (1500m)

Peaceful hike towards the Fourna mountain pass, hiking through green valleys until we reach Tnirte. In the afternoon, free time in the village to discover irrigated gardens. Spending the night in Berberian family home in the village of Imi n’Tala.

Hiking: 5 hours

Height difference: 400m up / 500m down

Accommodation: Berberian family home

Day 6: Im in Tala – Aït Ahmed – Aït Zitoun

Reaching the Amizmiz valley following the Amizmiz river, passing through its little hills and its typical village of Aït Hamed. Going on until Aït Zitoun village

Hiking: 5 hours

Height differenc: 500m down

Accommodation: Berberian family home

Day 7: Aït Zitoun – Tachbibte – Marrakech

Last half day of hiking with our team before catching the minibus in the village of Tachbibte. One hour trip back to Marrakech. Free time and night at the hotel

Hiking: 2 hours

Accommodation: hotel / riad

Day 8: return flight

Transfer to the airport (2 hours before flight departure)
